I went to the dollar store the other day and passed by the silly cheap school supply section.  I was inspired by the flimsy posterboard to take up a little art project.  So I bought a couple sheets, some glue sticks and a packet of paster paper and started planning out my project.

Now admittedly, my plans were a blatant rip-off of some art I had seen at the Seattle Center several years ago, but I really liked it and I guess that excuses my actions.

my project:  a cherry blossom tree made out of cut/ripped paper.

sketch

I sketched out my idea of the finished image, an absurdly twisted rendition of a tree trunk and branches w/ blossoms.

transfer design…

I then roughly sketched the design onto my piece of poster board.
I shredded pieces of browd paper and started gluing them to my posterboard in the shape of the trunk.↓

I then cut out several small pink circles (some I cut into the shape of the blossoms that they will all eventually be) and planned out where I wanted them to be when I finish.↓

That’s as far as I got. I hadplans to do a background scenery out of cut paper as well, but was kind of blocked.  I soon realized taht I probably should have planned out a background before creating my tree.  Live and learn.  Maybe I’ll do some watercolor-like additions, but that would ruin the cut paper theme.  I wish I had some very sheer pnk tissue paper, but it’s not likely to happen.  I may take my tracing paper and give it a slight pink wash.

anywhoooo… this is the status update, as promised.
future updates wil be forthcoming, unless I flake out and forget about this project.

Well at last we have proof. Okay, I know, this is a Photoshop job. Nonetheless it’s pretty good and I figured we might have some caption contest fun. Okay? Have at it. Happy Monday.

The deluxe 2CD set of Amy’s brilliant debut album ‘Frank’ is released today. The album, first released in 2003, is a limited edition which contains the original album, rare performances, b-sides and unreleased remixes. Meanwhile the deluxe version of ‘Back To Black’ is once again jostling for position in the UK album Top 10 chart more than six months since it’s first release.

Dear Mama,

It is now past midnight so that means Mother’s Day has just passed 15 minutes ago. I am sorry I did not call you today to wish you a “Happy Mother’s Day” as most people would do with their own Mother’s, however you have been on my mind all day. I just wanted to write a letter now to tell you that I love you and I have always loved you. How could I ever NOT love you? You were the woman responsible for bringing me into this beautiful and mysterious world so I will always be eternally greatful for that and for you.

At this moment, although I didn’t call you, I know in your heart that you know that I love you very much and always have. I want to take this time to tell you that I forgive you Mama. I forgive you for hurting me when I was a child. I forgive you for making me feel like everything I did for you, was just never good enough. I forgive you for breaking my heart many times and I forgive you for not loving me when you should have. That is the past now and I want you to know that regardless of what happened, I am not blaming you. I am a new woman today and I am proud of who I have become. Had it not been for all the heartbreak in my childhood I probably would not be so compassionate today for mankind.

So Mama, my dear Mama……I just want you to know that I love you and you are always on my mind. I can still remember very short glimpses of us together when I was a baby and for a little instant…..I did make you happy. Those will always be the moments that I will remember about you Mama. I know you always meant well and it wasn’t your fault. I know it was not easy to raise all of us at such a young age and leaving your home, a foriegn country far away, just to provide a better life for all of us, so I am forever greatful for you.

I know that today you are very proud of me, Mama. I know you didn’t mean to hurt me in the many ways that you did….but I forgive you….I always promised you when I was a little girl that I would grow up one day to make you proud and happy. I never liked seeing you cry so now there will be no more tears. I forgive you Mama, and it makes me happy that you are so proud of me today and the woman that I have grown up to be. THank you for bringing me into this world. I will do all in my power to continue to be a blessing in this world and help others.

I love you and Happy B-lated Mother’s Day.

Love,
Your Daughter…..Tila

Yes, it’s true. I caught another damn cold! URG!! I took a flu shot this year and this is the reward I get! Pooo Hooo I woke up on Saturday and could not breath. But I was a trooper and made my way to my model photoshoot. I’m so excited. We got some great stuff from my new models. I also shot a few sets myself and interviewed my sexy girls. Let’s just say that I got some juicy information and had a chance to get real up close and personal with them. Hee hee…

I got up this morning feeling even worse than the day before. I had another shoot for my friends at Destroyed Brand. I did not want to disappoint them so I got my butt up and made my way. I’m glad I did. It was a fun shoot. The crew and other models were great and SO nice. I can’t wait to check out the shots!

Well, I have a busy upcoming week, so I better get back back to bed and try to fight this cold off! I’ll update you again soon!

xo
