Beach weddings or destination weddings have grown in popularity recently. They offer a very special way to celebrate a marriage with a select group or friends and family in a location that can be elegant and beautiful naturally. A beach wedding doesn’t have to be unduly expensive either. Here are suggestions for planning the ideal cheap beach wedding.

Locale. There are miles of beachfront in the US alone. A public beachfront park is a free venue but you will need to check rules regarding food and drink if you hold the reception there as well. You might consider asking a private property owner if they would consider allowing you access for your wedding. Small resorts or hotels are always options but may incur costs associated with their use. If you are not close to a beach, a lovely lakeside setting may be just as nice.

Travel. Before planning a destination wedding, ask those you simply have to have at your wedding for their thoughts. Your C list would be guests that perhaps your mother would like to include but would not be upset about if they weren’t invited. You can always move them to your wedding announcements list if you need to. Not everyone you invite will be able to attend but by knowing a projected head count you can more easily set a budget.

Invitations. Beach wedding invitations have become so popular that they now rate a category all their own. From embossed seashells to charming sandcastles, beach wedding invitations set just the right tone for your special beach wedding. Remember to include a map for those unfamiliar with the location.

Decorations, food and drink. Beach weddings are affordable in that they are casual to begin with. Decorations are really not necessary as the natural surroundings are decorative enough. Food can be as casual as cold appetizers or barbeque. Drinks should be cold or frozen and colorful but don’t necessarily have to contain alcohol. Often beaches are breezy so don’t forget to add weight to your serving table and the items on it. You wouldn’t want your home made wedding cake taking flight!

Place A Horn of plenty, a basket or a hollowed pumpkin lined with fall leaves or popcorn and filled with fall fruit, berries, nuts, gourds, mini-pumpkins and-or acorns as your centerpiece.

Pumpkin Ice Sculpture Carve out the inside of pumpkins and place candles in them. If you plan a buffet, you may line hollowed pumpkins with foil and using them as serving dishes.

Fall floral arrangements in a straw basket or hollowed pumpkin.

Place 3 or 4 fall color candles of various sizes in hurricane lamps. The candles may be cinnamon, cranberry, spice or apple scented.

Place leaf or pumpkin shaped floating candles in a bowl, set it on a layer of fall leaves or straw.

Paint or spray mini pumpkins and gourds and group them together.

A real plant with real blooming flowers makes a great gift for guests. Chrysanthemums of many colors are pretty, very reasonably prices and you can get them everywhere; Wal Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc…

If you have children, let them participate. Ask them to string cranberries, candies and popcorn and add them to your table decorations.

Fortunately, not all brides are like this, and not only are they absolutely joyful during “their” day, but some couples even use the occasion of their wedding to express their concern for others, and concern for the environment. Any bride and groom can use their big day as an opportunity to give back to the community and to show respect for the earth, with the right socially conscious wedding ideas. Here are just a few:

Stay simple and as small as possible. More guests mean more transportation, more food, and more energy. Fewer guests mean less waste and less consumption. Keep all your wedding ideas tasteful but modest.

Cut down on the auto emissions by using fewer cars to and from the ceremony. If you must use limos, use just one for the men and one for the women. Gothic Weddings – Planning the Wedding of your Darkest Dreams

A Gothic wedding doesn’t necessarily have the bride dressed in black, black makeup, skulls and all other types of gruesome items everywhere – despite popular belief. Now, if that’s what you want, go for it, but that doesn’t necessarily fit the “Gothic” theme. The bride could easily get away with a white gown if that is what she would like to wear. The bride could walk down the isle to Metallica, but she could also easily walk down the aisle to the typical wedding theme. The choice is up to the Gothic bride.

As our Gothic bride enters the room, her dress isn’t the typical “Gothic” standard, by any means, but it suits her none the less. Her dress is white, with lace draped along the neck line. Our bride’s hair is pulled back into a simple bun. The first difference between her Gothic wedding and any other wedding is our bride is not walking down the aisle to any typical love song, but instead our couple is loudly playing a Metallica song. How bizarre? Not exactly.

Weddings are meant to express ourselves and our partner as we accept each other into our lives. Some brides prefer the traditional wedding, but not all do. Our Gothic bride prefers anything but the traditional. Her music of choice? Metallica. Her wedding of choice? More of a romantic gothic theme. Her wedding ceremony will not be held in a traditional church. Instead her wedding ceremony is at the center of a cathedral. Draped along the walls is heavy velvet fabric, and along the aisle are scattered petals of roses in red, white, and black. Both the ceremony and the reception will be celebrated in this room. The guests are all sitting around tables draped in deep red cloth. Atop each of these tables are 4 small black boxes, with surprise wedding favors inside. Black velvet photo frames displaying our couple are set in the center of the tables as well. Burgundy and black satin pillow sachets displaying the guests’ names are set around the table as seat assignments later to be taken with as a party gift. The wedding, even though it is meant to be “gothic”, doesn’t have to be dark and dreary and the wedding favors chosen can be any type that the Gothic couple likes. One Gothic couple decided to hand out heart shaped cookie cutters as wedding day favors. Another couple chose candle wedding favors with XOXO printed in black across them.

Other items ideal for favors for guests can be heart shaped silver corkscrews for those that enjoy a good glass of wine from time to time. Or perhaps a deck of cards in the shape of a heart, or with a wedding couple printed on the front that is actually two dogs. If you’re a little nervous on handing out an item to someone that they might not like, small leather picture key chains are an item that is just about perfect for any guest, a neutral item that any one can enjoy! Just because we’re going gothic doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun in the process!

Remember, a wedding above all else is a celebration, have fun no matter what wedding theme you choose!
